Please note: The HS1975 is made from the same mold as the HS696. Once the molding process is complete, every second tooth is removed with a diamond cutter and the empty space is sanded to create the finished product of the HS1975. Therefore, leaving a protruding base where the tooth would have been. When you comb your hair or rub your hands across the spine of the teeth, it may feel sharp or even pointy. What you feel is the “base” of the missing tooth. Please rest assured that this is how the comb is designed. The space where the tooth was removed has been sanded and is free from any seams. If you are uncomfortable with the HS1975 design, please consider purchasing the HS7370 Contour Comb.
The HS1975 Styling Comb is a complimentary addition to the Hercules Sägemann line up. The HS1975 Styling Comb is 9″ long and has wide teeth. This comb is big enough to detangle, distribute conditioner or blend and smooth the hair when styling. Pair this comb with the HS696W Styling Comb during the 1st or 2nd phase of the 3Comb Smooth.

I have 4a/b, very dense hair with fine strands and this is the best detangling tool I’ve ever tried. Denman brush, modified Denman brush, paddle brush, wide tooth comb (with seams), and even my fingers were way too harsh on my hair. With this comb (I got this one instead of the one listed for detangling because this one has a handle), a good conditioner and small sections, there is no ripping, no snagging and ever single shed hair is removed with minimal to no breakage. I have 3c type hair and it has reduced my frizz about 30%. The teeth were smaller than I expected so I have to comb my hair in smaller sections, but I still think the comb was definately worth the buy because there is less hair in the shower drain and it lets my curls keep its defined shape.

I just recently purchased the HS 1975 comb; it was smaller than I expected and I thought the teeth were wider but after using it while detangling my hair it was very durable and did not pull or snag my hair. i love this comb. it’s very sturdy, yet gentle on my fine-textured, yet dense afro hair. the teeth are wide enough to detangle without ripping out my hair; yet narrow for a smooth finish.
unfortunately, i wasted a lot of money on cheap and expensive combs trying to find the right fit for my hair. this comb is comfortable to use, sturdy, gentle, durable, and attractive…as far as combs go.

First I want to say that the quality and performance of combs and brushes here is amazing. I’m collecting them and getting back ups because after these I don’t ever want to go back to combs and brushes sold in stores.
As far as this particular comb goes, it’s my favorite wide tooth one, the famous Magic Star is too big for me, my hair is not thick enough for it. This one is absolutely perfect though. To comb the rinse out conditioner I use medium tooth comb (696), which works great for combing leave in through afterwards as well, but when I use a wide tooth comb I get more volume at the roots and overall, with bigger curls, so I love this for variety in how hair comes out when it dries. Thank you.

I like the comb and it seems to detangle my hair better than regular combs. However I noticed that when I run my fingers down the combs teeth (starting at the tip of the teeth) its very sharp inbetween there (were the teeth meet the base) and I felt like maybe it was causing splits. The only problem is that it need to be sanded down. I will buy a seamless comb that doesn’t look this one for my next comb. I will not use this on my hair any more

This comb worked wonders on my hair which is afro-textured but very fine. The comb did not snag or rip my hair and helped me with detangling. The quality of the comb is outstanding and is a light weight comb of which I was not use to. However, I have become use to the light weight and the comb is excellent as well for styling. Multi uses.

So far I love this comb. It made a tremendous difference compared to my other rake comb that had seams in it. I have little to know breakage when using this!

I have thick afro (I say cotton like) BSL (Bra strap length) hair.I have the jumbo rake and I love it but it doesn’t detangle my hair throughly so I bought this one to help the jumbo rake out. Sad to say that yes although they explain why the comb is sharp that doesn’t change the fact that it broke my hair. When my hair is saturated with conditioner and I comb through with the jumbo rake the normal shed hairs come out; but with the 1975 I see little broken pieces of hair. If those parts of the comb were smoothed out it would be wonderful. I really wanted to love this comb but because of its sharpness that’s not the case.

WHEN I FIRST SWITCHED TO THIS COME, I DID NOT SEE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE AMOUNT OF HAIR LOSS I SAW. HOWEVER, I HAVE SINCE SEEN ABOUT 50% LESS HAIR LOSS WITH EACH SHAMPOO. LOVE IT!

My hair glides through the teeth easily and detangles greatly. However the sharp points where the combs were removed are very sharp which gives me mid-shaft and end splits. I first bought this comb when my hair was chemically relaxed & thought that my hair was just weak. But it still does the same thing now that I’m natural. This defeats the purpose of getting the comb. DO NOT get this comb unless you like broken hairs and split ends. Total waist of money & of course they don’t accept refunds. I plan on getting the HS7370 to replace it.

I have collected most of the combs from hotcombs, but for some reason I wasnt impressed by this one. I cant say the base rips out my hair like other reviewers mentioned, however I do think the base is the reason my hair doesnt glide through the comb. The base is sanded down where the teeth were removed but there still is a bump sticking out so I feel like my hair gets stuck there. This comb might work better for someone else though.

I am updating my review because Customer Service reached out to me to discuss the problem I had in reaching them, and in doing so discussed in length with me the miscommunication, as well as the questions I had with the combs.
I use the HS1975 styling comb as my second comb with the styling product which assists distributing the styling product, and detangles my hair much easier. A lot less hair comes out as I comb with this comb. In fact, I am able to count the hairs that I remove from the comb.
The representative that I spoke with, Tasha, was very helpful and knowledgeable about the combs.

I am sure this is a good quality comb, it just didn’t really make any difference for my hair at this time. I think that when my hair is longer that it will, but my hair is not even shoulder length yet and the Mini Rake Star comb is my everything right now!

Bought this comb for my transitioning hair, but I let my daughter use it on my granddaughter, and there was a huge difference; not as much shedding, de-tangling was much easier. Now my granddaughter asks can we use that comb? I’ll have to buy another one.
